Strawberry Festival Celebrates Community, Tradition and Record Participation
The Tennis Clubs Strawberry Festival once again lived up to its reputation as Maple Leaf’s largest and most anticipated community celebration, bringing residents together for a day filled with connection, tradition, and fun.
This year’s festival saw impressive participation, with approximately 1100 tickets sold, reflecting the event’s continued popularity among both long-time residents and newcomers. Volunteers prepared and served an estimated 600 pounds of fresh strawberries, paired perfectly with shortcake and generous servings of whipped topping—one of the day’s most beloved treats.
Beyond the festivities, the Strawberry Festival remains the Tennis Club’s largest annual fundraiser. Over the years, proceeds have supported numerous Maple Leaf clubs. Funds have also contributed to the maintenance and enhancement of the community’s tennis facilities, an amenity enjoyed by all residents.
Festival Chair Kelly Robertson led this year’s event, which featured a wide variety of attractions for all ages. Popular activities included Birds of Prey exhibit, Fairy Hair styling, face painting, and balloon animals—each drawing enthusiastic crowds and keeping children smiling throughout the day.
It was wonderful to see residents visiting and mingling with our generous sponsors (see sponsor list below) who are such an important part of the festival’s success. A sincere thank you goes out for their continued support.
Live entertainment added to the festive atmosphere, with performances by Kokomo Joe and Brenda Puddy showcasing the vibrant musical talent within the community.
A highlight of the day was the return of the ever-popular Dunk Tank, which drew cheers and laughter from spectators while raising additional funds for participating clubs; Garden Club, Arts & Crafts, Maple Leaf Singers, Merry Makers, Pickleball and of course The Tennis Club. AND despite cooler weather, volunteers showed great spirit and humor by taking the plunge, making the attraction a standout success.
In the days leading up to the festival, Hulling Day proved equally successful, with strong volunteer turnout and a record completion time. Music, refreshments, and camaraderie made the work enjoyable, demonstrating the community’s strong spirit of teamwork.
The event was made possible with thanks to the generous support of our sponsors along with the dedication of the Festival Committee, volunteers, Maintenance team, and office staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.
With another successful Strawberry Festival concluded, residents are already looking ahead with excitement to next year’s celebration and the new experiences it will bring.
As organizers noted, “Your support helps strengthen Maple Leaf for everyone.”
