What the Tennis Club offers Play, Ladders, Tourneys Activities include open play, ladders, and tournaments for women's, men's and mixed doubles (and triples!) tennis. See Activities for more. Programs & Development Our programs include the introductory Taste of Tennis, ball-machine sessions, mentoring, and coaching. Our club fields doubles teams, ranging in skill level from novice to advanced, in the regional women's and men's senior tennis leagues. See Programs for more. Social Events We hold social events throughout the season: wine & cheese events, pot-luck and formal dinners, and a Christmas Day triples tourney and breakfast. We also host one of the most popular Maple Leaf Golf & Country Club events of the season, the Strawberry Festival. See Calendar for more.

Team Training & Coaching November - March Season The Maple Leaf Tennis Club has arranged for training and coaching to be provided for the months from November to March as per the following schedule: Women's League Teams - Monday Men's League Teams - Tuesday Individual or Group sessions are also provided throughout the season (see below for the Skills & Drills sessions) These lesson are available to Tennis Club members who are on a team in the Women's or Men's leagues. 2026 Summer Season The tennis club has arranged for individual lesson time on Tuesday's for the Summer of 2026. These lessons are available to all Maple Leaf residents. - Safe Play | Maple Leaf Tennis
MAPLE LEAF Tennis Safe Play Guidelines 1. If you feel ill or have had recent contact with a person who has tested positive you are advised to stay at home. 2. Practice social distancing by keeping a minimum of 6 feet apart. Do not make physical contact with other players (such as shaking hands or a high five). When playing doubles coordinate with your partner to maintain physical distancing. Maintain physical distancing if changing ends of the court. Remain apart from other players when taking a break. 3 .To the degree possible avoid touching court gates, fences, benches, etc. 4. Wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer before going into the court. 5. Use new balls if possible. You may choose to use your own balls when serving. Avoid using your hands to pick up balls. Avoid touching your face after handling a ball, racquet or other equipment. 6. It is recommended that for your own and other players safety you keep a diary of your games, including dates and fellow players names. In the event that there is a positive test for COVID 19, that information will be helpful in expediting contact tracing. 7. Spectator viewing is permitted provided social distancing is practiced. Mask use is strongly recommended when close contact is unavoidable. Play safe, take precautions as you are responsible for your own safety. If you feel apprehensive about playing with people outside your own group, you may choose not to participate.

Membership Anyone wishing to participate in the Club’s organized tennis programs - including ladders, tournaments and open play -or in regional-league teams must have a current annual or monthly membership. The modest membership fee is payable to the Treasurer at the start of each tennis season or on arrival in the park. The fee covers the costs of running tournaments, part of some social events, and court upkeep. Social memberships allow non-playing members to attend social events (wine and cheese, Christmas social, pot luck, etc.). New-Member Mentoring Program If you are a new member and want to know more about play and partners and social events and volunteering, you might be interested in Mentoring Program . CourtReserve & Membership Payments As of the start of the 2026 / 2027 season, members with CourtReserve membership from previous years will have their accounts re-activated once payment has been submitted. Volunteering We need you to help keep Maple Leaf Tennis Club thriving! See Volunttering for more information. 2025/2026 Membership Dues Full membership: $50.00 Monthly : $20.00 Social : $20.00 Starting November 4th, dues can be dropped off at 1016 York Trail . Please make cheques payable to Maple Leaf Tennis Club ; cash is also accepted. We will also be collecting membership fees at the Wine and Cheese Event on November 12th . If you are playing on a team, dues must be paid as soon as you can, and certainly by Wednesday November 12, 2025. Any questions? Taste of Tennis Each year, the Maple Leaf Tennis Club offers "Taste of Tennis" to introduce the game to new players, rusty players, or the merely curious. Racquets and balls are provided for the first session. In the first one-day event, you will learn the rules and basics of play: serving, forehand, backhand, ground strokes and valleys. A series of six weekly lessons will follow for those interested. The only obligation for these lessons is to join the Tennis Club ($50 for the year). The program has been run by Nancy & Keith McGruer. Over nearly 20 years, more than 400 people have participated, many of whom are now playing on Maple Leaf Tennis Club's competitive teams. For more information from mid-October to the end of March, call Nancy or Keith at 941-883-7260. Fall 2025 Sessions Our first Taste of Tennis session for 2025/2026 will start on Sunday Nov. 16th at 3:00 pm at the Charlotte Courts. Racquets can be provided for this first day. Tournaments Overview The season starts in November with a Mixed Doubles Tournament followed by a Ladies Triples Tournament in December. January tournaments include both a Mens Triples and a Ladies Doubles . The Mens Doubles is in February and then teams play for the Maple Leaf Cup in March. The final tournament of the season is the Club Championship, with Women's, Men's and Mixed Doubles matches in both A and B divisions.
