New-Member Mentoring Program About the Program The Tennis Club has a lot to offer: intramural and extramural play, men's, women's and mixed play; ladders, tournaments, open play; doubles and triples; casual and formal social events; volunteer opportunities. We're happy to introduce new members to a mentor who can explain the court-reservation system, the ladder and tournament structures, opportunities for level-appropriate open play and league play, and suggest club members who might be good partners and opponents. Request a Mentor Just send a note to MapleLeafTennis@gmail.com if you are interested in having a mentor get in touch with you.

  • Mixed Ladder | Maple Leaf Tennis

Ladder Play Mixed Doubles Ladder: The Mixed ladder is encouraging tennis players of all levels to participate. Interested players should form a mixed team of a female and a male tennis member. Please register as a team either online using Court Reserve or via email to the coordinator. The schedule will consist three week sessions beginning in November. We will be using the same format for the Mixed Doubles ladder and Mixed Doubles Championship as we did last year. The ladder is set up to allow all mixed doubles teams to prepare for the Mixed Doubles Championship which will start on January 27, 2024. It will consist of 3, three week sessions starting on November 18, 2023 and ending on January 20, 2024. You can skip a session and play with a different partner each session to help you decide who you want to play with in the Mixed Doubles Championship in January. Registration is set up on Court Reserve so when it opens please register you and your partner at the same time for the three week sessions. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you all on the tennis courts!! Mixed Doubles Ladder dates: Nov 18, 25, Dec 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, Jan 6, 13, and 20 Mixed Doubles Championship starts on Jan 27 and goes through every Saturday through March. Times and Location: Saturday Afternoon from 2pm to 6pm at the Can Am Courts. One hour matches will be scheduled each hour. Teams must consult the schedule to determine the time for their match. Set Up: The ladder runs for 3 weeks. A set consists of 11 points or total score after 1 hour, whichever comes first. The one hour includes warm up time. The number of games won during the 1 hour period is your score. Winners must record the scores each week on the posted schedule at Can Am Courts. Points are accumulated per team over the 3 week session. Teams: Teams are drawn up in groups of four, according to approximate skill levels. Each team rotates and will play once with each of the other teams in their group. It is recommended that the teams take turns bringing a new set of balls for play. After three weeks, the lowest scoring team will move down a group (except in the bottom group) and the highest scoring team will move up a group (except in the top group). Adjustments to the ladder will be made to add newly registered teams and delete teams that have elected not to play for the next session, while maintaining four teams of generally equal skill levels. A new ladder is started after 3 weeks. General Rules: All players must be members of the Tennis Club. There will be no penalty for using a sub. However the sub should be of similar skill level. Registered teams will be automatically entered for the next session. Please notify the coordinator if your team decides not to participate in the next session. If a team fails to show up and cannot make up the match during the 3 week session the other team will receive 11 points for that match. A sign up list will be posted every three weeks for players to indicate if they are playing next session and for new players to sign up. If a team has a scheduling conflict or if the match is rained out, it may be played at another time. Note: all three matches must be played by the Friday following the end of the session to enable scheduling of upcoming matches.
